Applications of or in the oil industry

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometry has been used by the oil industry since the 1950s. XRF can be found supporting activities in exploration, production, research as well as intellectual properties. Traditional applications for XRF were the analysis of single element or a limited range of multiple elements. Today, XRF encompasses high precision full spectral elemental profiles along with high accuracy and high precision single element testing for government regulations. This presentation will discuss how XRF is used in the oil industry and how the technology is changing to meet the oil industry of the future.
